What Are LAMDA Lessons?

LAMDA lessons are a great way to have fun, build confidence, develop performance skills, and gain a world-renowned qualification (and UCAS points) while doing so.

Emma Grace Arts offers the LAMDA grades in Acting, the LAMDA grades in Public Speaking and the LAMDA grades in Devising (aka Playwriting and Performing).

How Do the Exams Work?

LAMDA is an Ofqual accredited exam. Depending on the grade, entrants perform either one, two or three monologues/ speeches for an examiner and then answer some verbal questions about their work.

You receive a mark out of 100 and must get at least 50 marks to pass. Marks over 80 get a distinction and marks over 65 receive a merit.

How Do LAMDA Lessons Work?

Currently, aside from her contracted in-person work in schools, Emma Grace offers lessons over Zoom. She hopes to be able offer in person lessons in London soon. Lessons are weekly and either 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the package purchased. Lessons are either one-to-one or in pairs which means you will have maximum attention from Emma to help deliver a top performance. We will work on physical, vocal and stage space skills through fun practical exercises and develop strong characterisation skills through thorough and professional script work. Students will learn about analysing, evaluating and theatre history through both practical tasks and personal research.

Will There Be Any Work Set Outside of Lessons?

Yes, at times — mainly line learning. It is important to note that the LAMDA syllabus clearly states that, at all grades, independent rehearsal and research is essential.
